The use of technology within the classroom is becoming more fundamental in the learning and development of students. In an era dominated by technology, teachers must be knowledgeable about current trends in technology and how to use them to inspire student learning, creativity, digital citizenship and responsibility. Technology is integrated into many aspects of our elementary classroom not to replace teaching, but as a means engage students, support and enrich learning. Parents and teachers should be familiar with the standards and expectations for safe use of technology both inside and outside of the classroom. Please visit the links below for more information from the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).

Flipped Classroom
This year we will start Flipping the Classroom. A flipped classroom is an instructional that reverses the traditional educational arrangement by delivering instructional content, often online, outside of the classroom and moves activities, including those that may have traditionally been considered homework, into the classroom. In a flipped classroom model, students watch online lectures, collaborate in online discussions, or carry out research at home and engage in concepts in the classroom with the guidance of the instructor.

Google Classroom is also another tool we may use in Flipping the Classroom. Google is unique because of it's built in applicationad and cloud Drive. A Google Classroom is designed to help teachers create and collect assignments paperlessly, including time-saving features like the ability to automatically make a copy of a Google document for each student. It also creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student to help keep everyone organized. Students can keep track of what’s due on the Assignments page and begin working with just a click. Teachers can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and grades right in Classroom. Watch a video abut the Google Classroom below.
